Let's Kickoff This Year With Some Art!

Hey guys! School year is here and it's back to the daily grind. I had a wonderful time in NYC interning at Triforce but now I'm back at Ringling and the first 2 weeks have been intense. So to show you all my hard work I have uploaded one of my first pieces from Class. Behold!

This piece is of a Cyclops surrounded by women in a very Conan type way. I really wanted to infuse Frazetta's style with my own Technique as well.

In the Gif below is a step by step process of how I came to the final. I apologize in advance for the sudden color study goes to render ( i had forgotten to not merge the other render layers in my class so i could show you my mistakes) I'll do better next time promise.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this new piece to start off the year. Up Next: My Zbrush Models! :D

Super Mega Upload

Hello everyone! it's been a while since i last posted in this blog. I have a lot of new stuff to share and can't wait for you all to read and view it. It's been crazy since my last post, mainly because I'm now interning at Project Tri-Force here in NYC :D. I was shocked when they wanted me to come work for them so I can't wait to share what i'm allowed to with you all. But anyways back to the work :)

This was rough but I gained a lot of experience from it and I'll start with my work in Illustration Class:

First project up and running was my haunted dryad concept, I wanted to make a character that had an eerie feeling to it but still beautiful. The background of this character was that she would lure prey into her lair and then suck the nutrients out of them leaving them hollow husks of themselves.

Turnaround

Splash Art

Next up was a piece that required us to take a story an depict a scene out of it. I choose Eragon when he awakes to see Saphira perched on his bedpost bathed in the sunlight. Eragon has always been a big influence on me ever since i was in 5th grade.

Up then was a two page comic strip of whatever we wanted. It's been a while since I visited my saga of Kendrik so i wanted to give him a bit of love with a scene where he gets into some trouble. I wanted to try some new style in pencil, trying out how some of my favorite artist treat the pages before putting them in color. Still needs some adjustments but i really like how its coming so far.

                                              page 1                                                    page2

And finally is of me riding atop a giant otter exploring the world. Need I say more?

Visual Development Class:

So if you read my last post about the Mimic story its progressed through the time at Ringling. With a color script, GIF, and lastly a 2 minute movie! enjoy :)

For the Color Script I choose the idea of when Darius is attacked by the mimic in the Valley of Derichi.

Final

Next up is the Gif. The plan was to make a 15 - 30 sec gif of a scene in our story then later using it to build on a longer scene as our final projects. My idea was to use the intro to the story where the Queen is giving her speech the the people and the raven enters the kingdom.

This the final video of the intro scene. It took a lot of work but hopefully it turned out decent :) Enjoy.

The Mimic - Characters, Props & Environments!

Welcome back everyone it's been a crazy four weeks of school already and i have a lot to show you! Behold!

So a little bit of backstory: In my Visual Development Class we were assigned to listen to several radio shows from the 1920's and pick from one of them. I choose a story called "The Mimic", A sci-fi story of an alien posing a regular human infecting other humans and becoming part of it.

In the class we could take these stories and twist to our own design. Here is mine:

Ambassador Darius, Envoy of the Dwarven Trade Guild, arrives to meet Queen Rebecca, Ruler of the Middle provinces of Humans and personal friend of Darius. However Darias does not seem to be himself when meeting Rebecca, Thus in turn Rebecca asks her right hand man, Tyrin to investigate. When Tyrin does he finds out Darius has been infected by the Mimic along his travels and a scuffle breaks out and Tyrin is taken by the mimic. When he retursn to Rebecca he also infects her and the Mimic, realizing what a powerful figure it has absorbed, plots it next step in infecting the world…

Lets start with the characters I had to make four complete characters, a man, a women, a supporting character, and a creature.

Revision After Class Critique

Next up is Props. We had to make at least 3-4 final Props to use in our story. This one we had to skip process in class and just dive head first into this one.

Silhouettes

Final Props: I choose to focus on The Queen's Crown, Tyrin's Sword and Sheathe, and Darius's Backpack.

Last up is the Environment.
